PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman recorded video of numerous cars speeding past a stopped school bus on US 19 in Pasco County.

What the drivers didn’t know, was that Pasco sheriff’s deputies were waiting to cite them.

Monica Douglas recorded the video and posted it to her Facebook page Wednesday morning.

The video went viral over night.

“I don’t know if they’re texting and driving. I don’t know if they’re just not paying attention or if they believe that they shouldn’t have to stop,” said Douglas.

The sheriff’s office confirmed 13 people were cited overall in a multi-day operation at the location.

Douglas said the violations had been going on since the start of the school year.

“We were like, ‘wow really.’ Nobody would stop for this. So me and Barbie just started recording,” she said.

Douglas hopes this will keep drivers alert.

“It’s for the children safety and the parents,” said Douglas.

“We’ve already lost innocent lives in Tampa and a couple other states and I fear for those parents because a $275 dollar ticket don’t bring their child back to life.”
