New Port Richey man arrested for child abuse after 2-year-old suffers broken collar bone

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (WFLA) - Pasco County sheriff's deputies arrested a man on Sunday after a 2-year-old child he had supervision over was found to have a broken clavicle and a dislocated shoulder.

Andrew Elliot, 30, allegedly injured the victim on Oct. 12.

Two weeks later, the victim's mother fled a home with the victim and his siblings to get away from Elliot.

Law enforcement was notified of the incident and the victim was taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center, where he was found to have suffered the injuries.

In a noncustodial interview, Elliot admitted to knowing of the victim's injuries, but said they were caused by falling off a swing.

During a custodial interview, Elliot admitted to causing the injuries by picking up the victim after changing his diaper.

Elliot was arrested for aggravated child abuse and taken to the Land O' Lakes Detention Center without incident.
