The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman was killed and four others, including the woman’s two children were seriously injured after a suspected drunk driver caused a crash in Pasco County.
The accident occurred Sunday morning on US-41 at Fontaine Ave. around 8 a.m.
According to a report, a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Ryan Manley of St. Petersburg was traveling northbound on US-41 before it drifted into the southbound lanes and hit a Saturn SC2 head-on.
The driver of the SC2, 30-year-old Shaita Guillory of Citrus Springs died at the scene. Her two children who were passengers in the vehicle, Terrolyn, 9, and Leighton, 7, were airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries.
Manley and his passenger, 27-year-old Christopher Reilley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania also sustained serious injuries and were transported to Bayonet Point Hospital.
Troopers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and charges are pending further investigation.
Online records show Manley was released from jail less than two weeks ago after he was arrested for shoplifting. He also has previous arrests for battery and possession of meth and marijuana.
