Pasco driver charged with DUI manslaughter, accused of hitting, killing bicyclist

HUDSON, Fla. (WFLA) - A Hudson driver faces DUI manslaughter charges after troopers say he ran a red light and hit a bicyclist, then tried to flee the crash scene.

Investigators say Garrett Juhler-Robbins, 26, of Hudson, was driving eastbound on State Route 52 around 2:30 a.m. on Friday when he ran a red light at the intersection of Chicago Avenue.

Juhler-Robbins' Chevy pickup truck hit Joseph Alan Barnes, 27, of Hudson, who was on his bicycle and was crossing the road in a marked cross walk.

Barnes died at the scene of the crash.

Investigators say Juhler-Robbins' left the crash scene but was detained by Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputies about two miles away.

Juhler-Robbins was arrested by FHP troopers on charges of DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and vehicular homicide.
