Deputies seek witnesses after deadly road rage shooting in Pasco

Pasco County

Investigators are looking for witnesses to a deadly road rage shooting in Pasco County Tuesday night.

Deputies say a man was killed around 9:20 p.m.

Two vehicles were driving west on State Road 54 near the Collier Parkway. Somewhere near the intersection of US 41,  there was some sort of interaction between the drivers and at least one deadly shot was fired.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Scott Bartolotti.

Bartolotti’s girlfriend told News Channel 8 Wednesday afternoon that he had left the house to make a quick Walmart run.

“We are still working through this investigation and trying to find out what initiated this road rage incident to result in the gunfire. That part is still under investigation, but we can confirm it was road rage and the scene is secured. There is no need for any public concern or anything like that,” said Lt. Luby Fields with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

“At this moment we don’t have any indication that these two knew each other but again, still under investigation.”

On Tuesday night, deputies said that there were two people in the vehicle that fired the shot and they did stop and were being cooperative. Right now it’s unclear if anyone is in custody or not.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident or saw anything around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of US 41 and State Road 54, contact the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office at 727-847-8102.
