$3,000 Reward: Armed man sexually assaults 71-year-old woman in New Port Richey

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (WFLA) - A $3,000 reward is being offered to help find the man who sexually assaulted an elderly woman in New Port Richey during a violent home invasion.

A dark home on Heather Street in New Port Richey is where the attack happened early Monday morning.

Detectives report a 71-year-old woman stopped by to check on the place for the homeowner.

But instead of being vacant, a man armed with a handgun, with a red or orange tip, sexually assaulted her.

"It's scary what could have happened. Who's to say he didn't come to my house. I have my little girl with me. I don't even want to think," said a shaking Brittany Sanabria, who lives right across the street.

She saw the attacker Friday when he knocked on her door.

"I didn't make it in time. As I got to the door, I saw him walking away. And it's just like, why would you knock on the door and within 30 seconds, walk away? It just, it didn't seem right," said Sanabria.

The attacker has a thin goatee and two tattoos on his chest, including one that says "Dortha."

He told the victim his name is Kevin before leaving on foot north on Heather Street.

"As the mother of two little girls, you know, especially with everything going on in the world now a days, it scares you," said Sanabria.

The attacker is Hispanic or black, 25 to 35 years old. He's about 6 feet tall and has a scar on his right forearm.
