Missing pregnant woman’s newborn baby found alive in Chicago

CHICAGO (WFLA/WLS) – The family of a missing pregnant woman said her baby has been found alive.

A spokesperson for the family of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui said tips from the public led police to a home.

Police said Tuesday persons of interest from the home were being questioned.

Ochoa-Uriostegui said their daughter exchanged messages on a Facebook group with one of the women who lived at the home about baby items.

Firefighters revealed the day she disappeared last month, they were called to the home for a baby in distress.

They took the child to the hospital.

Wednesday, the family spokesperson said detectives confirmed through DNA the baby in the hospital is Ochoa-Uriostegui’s child.

“The grandma was telling me that the baby is beautiful, but the baby is in critical condition. We’re praying. She’s like, ‘I believe in miracles, I don’t believe what the doctors tell me,’” said spokeswoman Cecilia Garcia.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office said remains were found near the home and an autopsy is pending.
