Transportation leaders are exploring the idea of an express bus that would connect Pasco, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, and they want your input.
The Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) are in the process of updating the Long Range Transportation Plans, which includes the idea of an express bus.
“The proposal is to run an express bus essentially from Pasco County, Wesley Chapel I-275, through downtown Tampa, Westshore then over to Pinellas and over to St. Pete,” said Rich Clarendon, Assistant Director for MPO. “So it is a sizable system. It would provide 15-minute bus service on a regular basis for those longer distance commutes, coming in from other counties.”
The idea proposes that the express bus run in its own lane, which would be the shoulder of the road where there is no express lane. If given the green light, the shoulders would have to be reinforced.
“It would be very beneficial from the standpoint that it would provide capacity for those long-distance regional trips,” said Clarendon.
You can take on online survey to weigh in on the express bus proposal and other plans from July 27 through Sept. 30.
