SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) – Weeki Wachee Springs State Park has pushed back its reopening date due to renovation delays.
Renovations began last fall. The underwater theater where the mermaids perform is getting an upgrade.
The swimming area is open daily. The new reopening date for mermaid shows, river boat and wildlife program is June 15, according to the park’s Facebook page. The park has apologized for the inconvenience.
“We understand how disappointed many of you may be, and understand some have scheduled vacation time around the mermaid performances. However, until the completion of the sidewalks and walking bridge are complete, we cannot safely reopen those attractions.”
The park’s mermaids have been making appearances at Buccaneer Bay several times a day to visit with park guests.
The water slides, lazy river and kiddie pool are open on the weekends until it goes to its daily operating schedule beginning in June. The park will continue to offer a reduced rate of $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-12.
Weeki Wachee Springs State Park is located at 6131 Commercial Way (U.S.19) in Spring Hill, (352) 592-5656
