Video: Stolen car suspect taken down by K9 units from Manatee Sheriff’s Office

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A suspect driving a stolen car was taken down by Manatee County Sheriff’s Office K9 units on Wednesday.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies located a stolen Toyota around 10:13 p.m. 

Deputies began following the vehicle south on 1st Street near MLK Boulevard and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, later identified as Artavius Foresyth, 25, didn’t stop and maneuvered through traffic and fled from patrol units.

Patrol deputies backed off and the aviation unit took over, calling out the direction of travel which continued south on 1st Street West.

Moments later, Foresyth crashed into a truck stopped for a red light at 26th Avenue West and 1st Street.

No one was injured in the crash.

Foresyth rolled into the parking lot at Firkins Automotive and fled on foot.

With the assistance of the aviation unit, Foresyth was tracked and located by K9 units.

He was found hiding under a vehicle in the back of the dealership parking lot.

During the arrest, Foresyth was bit on the leg and taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
