The kids are almost out of school for the summer and plans are being made for summer vacation, but luckily for Tampa Bay residents, they won’t have to travel far to get to one of 2019’s best vacation destinations.
A new survey from financial wellness company WalletHub created a ranking of the least expensive U.S. destinations that are also the easiest to reach.
The country’s 100 largest metro areas were ranked across 40 key indicators ranging from the cost of the cheapest flight to the number of attractions and weather.
The survey named the Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater metro area as the No. 8 best summer travel destination across the country, garnering high scores in the “activity” categories.
Taking the top spot among all other cities was, unsurprisingly, the Orlando-Kissimmee metro area, which had high scores for its numerous attractions and activities.
