TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor is set to graduate after transferring to a Tampa Bay high school.

After the tragic shooting, Susana Matta noticed a decline in her grades and began to struggle emotionally during the second half of her junior year. Matta transferred to Sickles High School for her senior year.

This week, her hard work and determination are featured on the Hillsborough County Public Schools Facebook page for their Countdown to Graduation initiative.

She has become a strong advocate for gun control, plans to graduate with a 4.40 GPA  and will attend HCC to study criminal law.
