Seminole man advances to ‘American Ninja Warrior’ city finals

Local News

A young man from Seminole followed in his family’s footsteps by appearing on “American Ninja Warrior” this season.

At just 19 years old, Caleb Bergstrom became the youngest competitor to ever scale the Mega Wall. He earned $5,000 for accomplishing the feat, won his first buzzer and is now moving on to the Atlanta city finals later this year.

Caleb and his sister Caitlyn both competed in Wednesday night’s episode. Their father Jason and brother Danny have also both been on the show in previous seasons.

Caleb dropped by News Channel 8 Today to talk about the competition and how he prepared.

“It’s completely different,” Caleb said. “In training, you’re calm. It’s an environment you’re used to. Once you go to compete, you’ve never touched the obstacles before, and everyone is watching you. It’s pretty nerve-racking.”

Caleb and Caitlyn earned the nickname “Baby Bergies” because they’re the youngest of nine Bergstrom siblings. They are two of three Tampa Bay area competitors this season.
