TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – It turns out that Tampa Bay residents don’t have to travel far for a fun vacation.

A new survey released by financial wellness website, WalletHub, ranked the best “staycation” cities across the country.  

WalletHub compared more than 180 cities based on 43 different indicators of an active and wallet-friendly staycation.

Tampa ranked No. 9 overall, however, the Big Guava ranked No. 5 in the category of rest and relaxation, which included spas & wellness centers per capita. 

Tampa also ranked No. 7 in the food and entertainment category, which included nightlife options per capita, theaters and concert halls per capita and diversity of restaurants. 

St. Petersburg also made the cut, coming in at No.37 overall because of its public beaches per capita.
