Report: Tampa Bay is one of the best cities for hockey fans

Local News

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) –  Even though the Lightning didn’t make it to the Stanley Cup finals this year, Tampa has become an exciting place for hockey fans to be.

With the sixth highest attendance in the NHL, and 100 percent of home game tickets sold, Tampa Bay does not play around when it comes to supporting the home team.

WalletHub crunched the numbers to determine the best places for hockey enthusiasts. We ranked 73 U.S. cities based on 21 indicators of a good hockey city. The data set ranges from ticket prices to stadium capacity to the performance level of each city’s teams.

Although the team had the best performance during the regular season, Tampa lost big points for the NCAA hockey teams, ranking 56th out of the 73 cities ranked.
