TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A police chase that began in the Polk City area came to a crashing end nearly 30 minutes later in downtown Tampa, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Polk County deputies said the pursuit began around 5:09 p.m. when two people fled in a light-colored stolen vehicle.
The chase then moved west into Hillsborough County where the vehicle crashed near the intersection of East Harrison Street and North Jefferson Street in Tampa around 5:39 p.m.
No significant injuries were reported.
Photographs from the scene show what appears to be the stolen sedan rolled over on its side and another dark-colored sedan with severe damage to its rear passenger side.
Authorities said no PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver was attempted.
Authorities said the investigation is still in its early stages.
