Permanent memorial planned for mom, toddler killed on Bayshore Blvd.

A permanent memorial is in the works to remember the mom and daughter killed on Bayshore Boulevard one week ago Wednesday.

Jessica Raubenolt and her daughter Lillia were struck by a speeding car while attempting to cross the street. Tampa police say Cameron and his brother Tristan Herrin, along with John Barrineau are all facing charges in their deaths. According to police, the three men were street racing when the accident occurred.

Meanwhile, Keep Bayshore Beautiful is working on a permanent memorial for the young mother and daughter.

“We feel like we need something visual. something real remaining on this spot on Bay Shore, or people who go by Bay Shore, about this tragedy,” said one of the group’s organizers,  Zhenya Nichols.

Although they’re still in the early stages, the group hopes to erect a statue, paint a mural on a section of the roadway and plant a garden of lilies.

“We can take this sorrow. We can dig it into this ground and something beautiful will sprout out of it. Something permanent. Something mindful,” said Nichols.
