Woman cited after crash with school bus; 7 students hurt

A 67-year-old Davenport woman was cited for careless driving after her van crashed into a school bus in Ellenton on Thursday. Seven students were hospitalized with minor injuries, authorities said. 

The crash occurred in the parking lot of Covered Bridge Estate, 6350 Shenandoah Cir., at about 8:25 a.m. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country minivan was heading west in the parking lot of when it slammed into the left side of a school bus carrying 62 students, which was parked. 

Seven students on the bus were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. 

The driver of the minivan, Clarisse Maze, was cited for careless driving, according to the report.
