BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — Manatee County deputies said they are investigating a teenager’s death after he died while being treated for a gunshot wound Thursday.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy heard gunshots while patrolling 29th Avenue in Bradenton at around 12:13 a.m.

Shortly after, he found evidence of a shooting in the roadway.

The sheriff’s office said an unidentified man ran from the scene in an unknown direction, according to a witness.

Deputies later learned of a 15-year-old boy who was dropped off at Manatee Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound. However, the teenager did not survive his injury.

Detectives said they have multiple leads in the case, but no suspects have been arrested as of this report.
