Deputies looking into death investigation in Brandon

Local News

BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA) – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a woman’s death in Brandon.

Deputies say they were called to a home located at 513 Clara Drive, near Kingsway Road and Alma Drive, around 10:20 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive female.

Once deputies arrived to the scene, they saw the woman had some upper body trauma.

Investigators had not released the name of the victim or announced any arrests as of Monday night.

Neighbors described seeing an older man with gray hair get into the back of a deputy’s car and leave the scene with investigators.

Detectives canvassed the home well into the night.

Neighbor Anthony Thiebaut never would have guessed anything was off on his street until deputies showed up in droves.

“You don’t really know who your neighbors are or what they’re capable of doing,” he said.

Based on the history at 513 Clara Drive, however, Thiebaut said neighbors weren’t surprised to hear what happened.

Back in 2013 Ralph Wald, an Army veteran, was charged with but later acquitted of killing his wife’s lover inside the same house.

Wald argued he didn’t know his wife, Johnna Flores, was cheating, and shot Walter Conley, thinking he attacked her.

Property records show Wald and Flores still own the home.

Neighbors say an older man with gray hair left the scene with deputies. Investigators canvassed the home well into the night.
