Boyfriend of Florida Forest Service Ranger Mitzi Babb charged with her murder

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) - The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that officials in Camden County, Georgia have charged a man with the murder of Hernando-based Florida Forest Service Ranger Mitzi Babb.

Jeffrey Michael Morrison, her boyfriend, is charged in the murder of the 43-year-old.

Babb was last seen alive on June 19.

She disappeared from her FFS ranger post at the Withlacoochee State Forest’s Croom Motorcycle Area.

The sheriff’s office said investigators immediately suspected Morrison.

He was arrested on unrelated charges near the Florida-Georgia line on June 21.

Babb’s body was discovered in a waterway in Camden County on June 22.

While Morrison has been in custody since his arrest, it has taken until now for Georgia officials to charge him with Babb’s murder.

He is charged with murder and concealing the death of another, both felonies.

He is being held without bond in Georgia.
