Cinzia Duncan is passionate about many issues, one of them being trees.
Her passion for the issue caught many people off guard at a recent Tampa city council meeting.
While speaking about a proposed change for the tree ordinance, Duncan cut off a chunk of her own hair.
“Well that happened, I can’t undo that,” Duncan said as she made the chop.
Jaws dropped, people looked shocked and Duncan continued making her point.
Tampa’s tree ordinance is nearly 50 years old and has been credited by many with creating a beautiful tree canopy throughout many of the cities neighborhoods.
Developers say the ordinance creates too many hurdles for new buildings and renovations to existing structures.
After months of discussions on the issue, the Tampa City Council submitted a rewrite of the ordinance to the planning commission.
The planning commission will hold public hearings on the issue and then submit their recommendations to city council who will vote on the changes in April.
