A burglar took thousands of dollars worth of items from a Town N’ Country home, but he left behind a crucial clue.
The bungling burglar left great video of his face.
The video shows the man with a cell phone stuck to his ear, dressed in blue, checking out a home on Rustic Drive back in January.
He is wearing blue gloves as he pokes and prods. Then, he notices the Ring camera recording his every move. He moves the camera aside.
8 On Your Side spoke to homeowner Jennifer Fontana on the same Ring system that caught the crook.
“As we pulled up to our home, we noticed the front door was open and the window was broken,” said Fontana.
The thief took a class ring, Prada, DKNY and Bulova watches and some make-up.
“They’re personal items that were gifts that were given, not just something you can go out and buy,” said Fontana.
12 Oaks neighbors are well aware of the break-in, with the news spread via the community’s Facebook page.
“We’re pretty vigilant about who is around here and who we know is supposed to be here and who isn’t supposed to be here,” said Brian Hample.
Hample said the latest incident makes him second guess his own security setup.
“We work hard for what we have. And we don’t want to lose that just because someone feels like our home is opportunity to just go in and take what’s not theirs,” said Hample.
Fontana is happy her camera caught the burglar.
“It really gives us hope and a little bit of peace of mind that we could see who was in our home,” she said.
You can score some cash if you provide information that results in an arrest.
Crimestoppers is offering $3000 and the homeowner is offering another $1,000.
