St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and, according to a new report, Tampa is one of the best places to celebrate.
WalletHub ranked Tampa the fifth best city in the country for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in 2019. The study compared 200 of the largest cities in the United States by looking into the number of Irish pubs and restaurants, the price of beer and the city’s weather forecast.
Tampa earned a 64.12 overall score to come in fifth place behind Chicago, Philadelphia, Madison and Boston. It was the only city in Florida to land in the top 40 slots on the list. The next closest was Fort Lauderdale at 44. St. Petersburg was the only other Tampa Bay area city on the list and came in at 97.
According to WalletHub, Tampa is tied for first place with New York City when it comes to having the most Irish pubs and restaurants per capita. Tampa ranked sixth overall for St. Patrick’s Day traditions and 16th for St. Patrick’s Day weather.
One St. Paddy’s Day tradition in Tampa is dyeing the Hillsborough River green. It’s part of the Mayor’s River O’Green Fest, an annual festival held at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park downtown. This year’s festival is being held on Saturday, March 16.
