16-year-old boy dies after being hit by car in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Tampa police say the teenager who was hit by a car Friday afternoon has died from his injuries.

According to police, 16-year-old Jephte' S. Germain-Rodgers attempted to cross East Sligh Avenue outside of the crosswalk, running northbound across the street.

While he was crossing, the boy was struck by a 1992 gray Honda Accord traveling westbound on Sligh Ave. near North Rome Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene to find the teen with traumatic injuries. On Saturday, police said he had died from the injuries he suffered.

The investigation is still active, but no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
