HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A SWAT team is searching for a man who allegedly stole a rifle in Seffner early Friday morning.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a burglary in the area near Williams Road and Joe Ebert Road at about 4:13 a.m. and learned a rifle had been stolen.

Minutes later, a homeowner nearby reported encountering a man in black who was dressed in black and holding a rifle. The man fled on foot moments later.

Shortly after that, deputies got a call from employees at a commercial building who said they saw a man who fit the description.

A SWAT team came to the scene, cleared the building and set up a perimeter.

No injuries have been reported and the subject remains at large.

“Any information you have about this burglary or this subject, please call the sheriff’s office. And on that note, the individual who is responsible for this and stealing that rifle if you are willing to turn yourself in, call the sheriff’s office and we will bring you to the jail safely and soundly,” said Col. Ciro Dominguez.
