TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (WFLA) - Of all the low-down, dirty things to do.
Somebody stole a trailer filled with camping gear that belongs to a Temple Terrace scout pack.
Because of this theft, their upcoming fishing event, and later, a camp out, is in jeopardy.
The stolen trailer is hard to miss. It's big and white with "BSA troop 84" written on the side.
Early Tuesday morning, between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., somebody carted it off.
The theft is hitting this Cub Scout troop hard.
“It's just rude. People should not do that. Why would they do that anyways?“ asked pack member, Nathan Marsh.
That's the question many are asking.
Cub Master Chris Perry had the trailer parked at the end of his driveway.
“It's got all the camping equipment for the pack. It's got grills. It's got stoves. It's got everything to take these scouts out camping and including fishing and everything,” said Perry.
Total value is at least 10 grand.
Perry’s Daughter, Becca, also a member of the troop, noticed it missing as they left their home.
“I was like, 'where's the trailer? What happened to it?'” she remembers asking.
After a brief search, they knew the worst had happened.
“I don't know of I'm mad or if I'm heartbroken about it. Maybe a mix of both,” said Perry.
And the sad thing is, the thieves stole from children who depend on scouts to learn things they may not learn in school.
Perry has a message for the scoundrels.
“What you've taken from our scouting family, our future of Americans, and humanity, was it really worth it?”
Hillsborough sheriff's deputies are keeping an eye out for the scout trailer.
If you spot it, we know some Cub Scouts who will be very happy.
