Rookie Bucs players spend off time learning new skills

Hillsborough County

TAMPA (WFLA) – On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced their training camp for this year and when people will be able to see them practice.

But what do players do in the meantime, especially the rookies? News Channel 8 found out what some are up too at the annual rookie cookoff.

They are the latest Bucs rookie class to team up with the Art Institute of Tampa teaching the rookies the moves they’ll need to succeed in the kitchen.

Bucs leaders said it’s a chance to teach them a  skill that will go with them throughout life. But for fifth overall draft pick Devin White from LSU, the reasons are far more simple.

“It gives me something to do.. gets me out of the hotel. I like it, I need to learn how to cook so I can cook for my woman in the future,” White said.

In the past ten years that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have teamed up with the Art Institute, they say  one player has stood out as the best and that is Jameis Winston.
