BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a possible shooting at the Brandon Town Center Mall at 3:24 p.m. on Saturday.
An unknown woman, a man, and two kids were at Charley’s CHeesesteask at 509 Brandon Town Center Drive.
The woman was at the counter in the food court picking up food when she leaned over.
While reviewing surveillance footage, deputies discovered the woman accidentally firing a gun when reaching inside her purse.
The woman and the other individuals fled the scene out of the food court and into the mall parking lot.
Deputies have not located anyone that has been hurt at this time. The woman with the gun was located, but no charges have been filed.
The mall was closed for the remainder of the day.
