TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A new hotel has opened in Tampa’s Westshore district among a boom of new development and projects.

Hotel Alba is the first Tapestry Collection by Hilton Hotel in Florida. It opened in Westshore on June 4.

The hotel’s website describes it as a hotel with “gracious southern hospitality with a boutique experience.”

The hotel also houses “The Spaniard,” a locally-inspired restaurant, along with a poolside bar. Both the restaurant and bar are open to those not staying at the hotel.

The “theme” of Hotel Alba is based entirely on Florida culture.

“We have a completely local culture here. We’re bringing in Florida seafood, Florida vegetables. We have Florida Kawa coffee we’re feature, which is local out of St. Pete. We also have local bourbons, local vodkas and a large selection of craft beers to choose from in the area,” said General Manager Donovan Stephens.

The culture can also been seen in the artwork hanging on the walls.

“We have the artwork throughout the hotel is Tampa-inspired. Everything throughout, you’ll see the with cigar rollers, you’ll see the nods to Ybor City, all the artwork resonating throughout the entire hotel resonating and dating back to Tampa.”

Stephens was thrilled to open Hotel Alba during an exciting time for the area. He calls the hotel “something very different” for Westshore.

“Westshore is a great area. It’s booming. It’s by the airport, several malls, it’s got a wonderful residential experience just south of here. Westshore is just a great area to be in Tampa.

The hotel’s opening comes during major development and multiple projects in Tampa’s Westshore neighborhood.
