This week’s Road Rants comes from Kenneth in northeast Hillsborough County.
Potholes and aging pavement continue to plague Hillsborough County drivers, and it’s one of the most common complaints fielded by Road Rants reporter Meredyth Censullo.
I am sick and tired of the deplorable road conditions in North East Hillsborough county. Take a trip down Thonotosassa Rd. and see for yourself, especially around the intersection of Fritzke/Cooper roads. The holes are not only a nuisance but are become dangerous. I have a cracked wheel I had to replace, and now a bent wheel on my car that I have to replace just from the condition of the roads. The cracked wheel could have caused a serious accident but I caught it in time because it was losing air, I found the bent wheel because my car has started vibrating at low speed.
Meredyth took a ride in the Thonotosassa area, to see for herself what drivers are dealing with. In fact, there are large holes and cracks that support Kenneth’s complaint.
According to Hillsborough County, $3.6 million has been allocated to resurface Forbes Road between Thonotosassa Road and State Road 574, as well as Knights Griffin Road between Strauss Road and Paul Buchman Highway. Both are supposed to begin in late 2019, and completed in early 2020.
All of the county’s capital improvement projects are available at this link.
The county has Kenneth’s complaint about the roads on file. You can submit your own complaints regarding county roads here.
