The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has identified the mother and son who were killed during a domestic dispute in Tampa over the weekend.
Deputies say 34-year-old Stephanie Ann Willis and her 10-year-old son Ricky Willis were shot and killed after a fight over a television channel escalated.
The double homicide happened at an apartment on Mariners Cove Court Sunday evening.
Detectives said the suspected shooter, 42-year-old Tyrone Johnson, is Wills’ boyfriend. Deputies said they lived together at Mariner’s Cove apartments in Tampa for a year.
Investigators said Johnson and the woman got into an argument after he turned the television channel to football.
“I I heard a scream. At 6:45 p.m., I heard a scream,” said Yarelis Perez who lives nearby.
Detectives arrested Johnson hours later. He’s charged with murder in the second degree, murder in the first degree, aggravated child abuse and shooting at, within or into a building.
