TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa firefighters battled a structure fire started by improperly discarded smoking material in the area of College Hills Tuesday afternoon.
Tampa Fire Rescue said they responded to East Lake Avenue around 5:20pm.
The fire started at a building that houses both businesses and some apartments, according to Tampa Fire Rescue. The fire started on the second floor balcony and moved to the building’s attic.
Online maps show that one of the businesses at the building was a local food mart.
At the height of the blaze, flames and smoke could be seen coming out from the building’s roof.
No injuries were reported. Two apartments were affected but only one was occupied.
