The Tampa Bay area has plenty of cool camps for kids to attend over the summer. We’ve told you about Campo Italiana where children learn to speak and cook Italian, and Rockatar Camp where campers learn how to play a variety of musical instruments, and Forensic Camp where kids learn about the science behind investigations.
Now, it’s time for STEM camp.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering & Math. Hillsborough Community College will have STEM camps each week until the end of the month.
Hillsborough Community College’s Conference Center in Brandon is ground zero for STEM learning. For one week, elementary school kids get to learn about things that include robotics and science experiments. Middle schoolers learn about 3D printing, drones and app making.
“Our camp is for ages 7-14. It will promote various aspects of manufacturing to interest kids at a young age. We’ll also share info about getting involved with robotics teams in our region,” said STEM Camp organizer, Elizabeth Vocke.
Some of the topics covered at this year’s STEM camp include additive manufacturing, programming, drones : motors and navigation, robots and sensors, teamwork, collaboration and communication skills.
