Deputies seek info after body of woman found on side of Lutz road

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) - Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office are asking for information from the public after a woman was found dead on the side of a road in Lutz.

The woman's body was discovered around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on the side of Sierra Pines Boulevard, just north of Lutz Lake Fern Road West.

The isolated road is in north Hillsborough County and extends into Pasco County.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson said several people called 911 on Wednesday morning after seeing the woman’s body.

Deputies are trying to identify the woman. They do not yet know what caused her death. A medical examiner is at the scene.

The only information the sheriff’s office has released about the woman is she is white.

Detectives believe her body was on the side of the road for several hours. They are hoping people who live or drive in the area will be able to provide information that can help investigators.

“We do ask for the public’s assistance. If they saw anything last night or in the early morning hours of today to please contact us at (813) 247-8200,” said HCSO Maj. Frank Losat.

Detectives will be interviewing people who live nearby and they’ll also interview people who live up the road in Pasco County to see if they have any information.

Sierra Pines Boulevard is a quiet road during the day but is busy in the morning and late afternoon with commuters who drive between Pasco and Hillsborough counties.

A HCSO helicopter flew over the area and took photos Wednesday morning.
