A church deacon in Hillsborough County is behind bars after deputies say he admitted to sexually assaulting young children.
David Kenneth Buser, 72, of Plant City is believed to have sexually abused at least two victims, according to Hillsborough County arrest records.
The abuse of one of the victims had been going on for a decade, deputies claim. Records show that the most recent sexual assault happened two months ago.
Jessey Bradshaw, pastor of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Dover says Buser worked for the church for several years and occasionally taught Sunday school.
According to the report, the abuse did not happen at the church.
Bradshaw didn’t want to speak on camera and chose not to comment on whether there’s concern about more victims possibly being out there. He says the members of the church are stunned by the accusations and have a zero tolerance policy for that kind of behavior.
According to the report, investigators were on the phone line while Buser was talking with the victims and that’s when he admitted to the sexual abuse.
Buser is facing four counts sexual battery charges, two of which are for victims younger than 12. He’s also charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation.
Buser was arrested this week and is being held on a $600,000 bond.
