TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The public health advisory issued by the Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County for two local beaches has been rescinded, while one remains under advisory.
The advisory was lifted for Bahia and Simmons Park beaches. A new advisory for Ben T. Davis Beach was issued Thursday afternoon.
According to officials, enterococci bacteria is an indication of fecal pollution, which may come from stormwater runoff, pets and wildlife, and human sewage.
The beach will be re-sampled in a week.
The Department of Health in Hillsborough County also announced the advisory for Picnic Island Beach has been lifted.
