Former deputy opens sweet shop in Carrollwood

Hillsborough County

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A shop in Carrollwood is serving up some tasty treats.  The Cake Girl opened up over the weekend, and while gourmet donuts have been the rage as of late, this business features gourmet cakes and cupcakes.

Kirby Lavallee and his wife Kristina are the brains behind the business.

Lavallee has been interviewed by News Channel 8 a number of times for insight on law enforcement matters. He is a former sheriff’s deputy who left that career and then started his own private investigation service. Now, he’s transitioned to a ‘sweeter’ career.

“I’ve always supported my wife,” he said. “Business is something I love to do. So I just decided it’s a great time to join forces … use my marketing experience.”

Kristina Lavallee says “The Cake Girl” is already known for its mini cupcakes.

“We have 16 flavors that you’ll get as a daily thing,” she said. “We rotate our flavors every Friday, so you’ll get six new flavors every week.”

The Cake Girl is located at 13713 North Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa and is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
