TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a woman was killed in an early morning crash on Interstate 75 in Seffner Thursday.

The crash happened at about 3:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at mile marker 263, near the ramp to Interstate 4.

The Highway Patrol said a Volkswagen Jetta was heading southbound on the interstate at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and hit several orange construction barrels and a guardrail. The report did not say exactly how fast she was going.

The woman, who was not identified, died at the scene.
