Elderly resident, dog safe after fire breaks out in Tampa home

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on East 9th Avenue Thursday afternoon.

According to Fire Rescue, crews arrived to 3408 E 9th Avenue to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of a single-story wood frame home.

Neighbors had already assisted the elderly resident out of the home and took him to safety.

There was a dog trapped in the backyard of the home, which firefighters were able to rescue without harm.

The fire was under control by 5 p.m.

Investigators from the fire marshal’s office are on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

There were no injuries at the scene.
