TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Two teenage girls died Saturday after the scooter they were riding struck a pickup truck in Tampa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Florida Ave and Garland Court at about 4:30 p.m.
Troopers said the scooter driven by a 17-year-old girl was headed westbound on Garland Court, then turned left onto Florida Ave. in front of a pickup truck going northbound, causing a collision.
Both the driver of the scooter and her 19-year-old passenger, Natalia Luna were ejected from the vehicle.
The 17-year-old died at the scene. Luna was rushed to Tampa General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Investigators do not suspect impairment was a factor in the crash.
No charges are pending, according to the report.
