TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Three kittens are being evaluated by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay after they were rescued from a dumpster by a good Samaritan.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay posted photos of the three kittens and the man who saved them on Facebook Thursday afternoon.
According to the post, the man was at work at Bay City Forklift in Palm River and saw an unfamiliar car pull up, drop a box in his company’s dumpster and then speed away. When the man went to check what was in the box, he found the three black and white kittens.
The Humane Society says it is performing a medical assessment on the cats to determine the best course of action for their wellbeing.
So far, they say the approximately month kittens are doing well.
The organization is asking everyone to do their due diligence to find proper housing for animals.
“Letting an animal loose, dropping them off in a park or throwing them away is illegal,” the group said on Facebook.
This comes after a kitten was thrown from a moving vehicle on Columbus Dr. in Tampa last week. There is a reward offered to find the suspect responsible.
“We really need the public to start treasuring these lives, versus just dumping them like they are a piece of trash” said Maria Matlack with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. “They most certainly are not.”
