SEFFNER, Fla. (WFLA) – Two people have been taken to a local hospital following a house explosion in Seffner.
According to a spokesperson for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the explosion took place at a home at the intersection of King Richard Court and King Charles Circle.
The explosion sent neighbors in a panic, like Andria Jones. She lives a few doors down.
“We actually thought something was falling through our roof. It made us duck inside of our house,” Jones said.
Jones said there was no fire or flames, just a cloud of white smoke.
“They saw a man lying on the ground and he was bloody and they told him stay down because of electric wires, then they heard a woman screaming for help,” Jones said.
The right side of the home was blown out Thursday afternoon. Debris from the house was scattered everywhere. Eagle 8 HD flew over the home as law enforcement made their way through the rubble.
Jesadie Novo says she was driving on the street when the house exploded. She quickly called 911.
“At first it was hard to see because the smoke was so thick,” Novo said. “I really have no words, it’s traumatizing, it made my stomach sick.”
Medics rushed the two people in the home to the hospital, but not before neighbors ran over to try and pull them out.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, bomb squad and ATF showed up to the home to investigate. The cause of the explosion has not been determined.
