FSU running back Dalvin Cook found not guilty of battery charge

UPDATE: Dalvin Cook was found not guilty on Monday, Aug. 4.

PREVIOUS STORY: TALLAHASSEE, FL (WFLA) – The Tallahassee Democrat reports Florida State’s Dalvin Cook has turned himself into the Leon County Jail. Cook is charged with simple battery. The Tallahassee Democrat reported earlier Friday the running back, 19, has been under investigation for the battery of a woman. The alleged incident occurred outside a Tallahassee bar on June 23.

The woman involved is 21 years old. She had minor abrasions or bruises and was listed as being intoxicated, according to the Democrat.

Florida State has suspended Cook indefinitely. Last season, Cook was the fifth-leading rusher in the ACC, NBC Sports reports. He was FSU’s leader in rushing yards.

Cook was named in an aggravated assault case in 2014, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. In that case, two men allegedly threatened a neighbor with a handgun. Cook completed a diversion program after being charged with criminal mischief.

Earlier this week, video was released showing Florida State quarterback DeAndre Johnson punching a woman in the face. Johnson was dismissed from the team.
