A worker died after falling into a vat of oil early Wednesday morning in an industrial accident near Walt Disney World.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office detectives say it happened shortly after midnight.
The 61-year-old man and another employee were emptying oil and grease from a semi truck into a vat at an energy facility on Reedy Creek property.
The man was standing on a grate and slipped and fell into the vat. A co-worker tried to pull the man up from the vat, but he was not able to do so.
The fumes from the oil in the vat overwhelmed the victim and he slipped further into the vat.
His co-worker could not provide any more help due to the fumes.
The Reedy Creek Fire Department responded an assisted with the recovery of the victim. The man’s name has not been released.
The OCSO is investigating the incident.
