VIDEO: Florida woman stalks elderly shopper, steals her wallet

Broward County detectives are looking for a woman who allegedly stalked a customer at a grocery store and stole her wallet.

The incident occurred at an Aldi store in Cooper City.

Cameras were rolling when a woman who appeared to be shopping followed an elderly woman around the store. When the woman stopped to pick up a piece of fruit, the thief plucked her wallet out of a purse, ditched her shopping cart and headed for the exit.

Police said the same day, the suspect charged $462 on the victim’s credit card at a Macy’s. She was later seen on surveillance video using the stolen debit card at a Target, where she bought $256 worth of items, detectives said.

The culprit is described as a heavy-set black woman in her mid-30s, wearing a white visor hat, a tie-dyed t-shirt, Capri-length pants and black shoes.

Those with information should call Det. Christopher Neves at 954-432-9000. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
