TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA ) – UPDATE | Police have located a missing Florida girl and her mother in Mississippi after tracking her mother’s phone.
Sage Cambron was reported missing from a foster home in Port Charlotte Monday morning. Sage and her biological mother, Brenda Cambron were later photographed passing through a toll plaza on the Veterans Memorial Highway in Tampa.
Detectives began tracking Brenda’s phone on Tuesday, which she later turned off. On Wednesday morning, the phone pinged from a cell phone tower on I-20 in Mississippi. The Clinton Police Department searched the area and found Cambron’s vehicle in a McDonald’s parking lot.
Brenda Cambron was arrested on her outstanding warrants. Detectives say the teen is safe and in good health.

Sage Cambron, 15, was last seen at about 11 p.m. Sunday at a home in Port Charlotte where she had been living with a foster parent. She was discovered missing at about 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Sage and her biological mother, Brenda Cambron were photographed passing through a toll plaza on the Veterans Memorial Highway in Tampa in a 2005 black Honda Civic 2-door bearing Florida license plate EKAI65. Detectives believe they have left the State of Florida and are headed back to Louisiana.
On Tuesday, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant on charges of kidnapping, interference of child custody and removing a minor from the state for Brenda Cambron. The warrant has national extradition.
Sage’s biological father has since been arrested in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana on charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. DeSoto Parish detectives also issued a warrant for Brenda Cambron’s arrest related to drug charges.
Detectives say Sage has autism and the mental capacity of a 5-year-old but did not provide any details regarding her appearance.
Brenda Cambron is described as 5 feet 4 inches, weighing 180 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.
