Operation BBQ Relief has arrived in the Florida Panhandle following Hurricane Michael and is now looking for volunteers to help them serve meals to those impacted by the storm.

Operation BBQ Relief is a charity organization made up of volunteers from competitive barbecue teams from several different states. The volunteers respond to communities hit by natural disasters and other devastating situations to help feed displaced families and emergency responders. It was founded back in 2011 after a tornado hit Joplin, Missouri. Since then, the organization has served more than 2 million meals in 25 states.

Less than 24 hours after Hurricane Michael hit the Florida Panhandle, volunteers from Operation BBQ Relief were on the ground in the impacted areas, serving hot meals.

The group now has mobile sites set up in both Panama City and Tallahassee. On Twitter, Operation BBQ Relief organizers said they were preparing to serve 30,000 hot meals a day at each location.

In order to do that, the group says it needs volunteers. They’re looking for people to work 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shifts and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. shifts.

If you’re interested in helping, you can download the OBR Volunteer app and sign up for Hurricane Michael deployment. You can also text OBR to 51555.

Organizers are also looking for donations. You can do that by visiting the Operation BBQ Relief website or by texting OBR to 41444.
