PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) – A man has been arrested in Escambia County after deputies say he tried to run his son over with his truck after the fifth time he told him to take a bath.

A witness said he heard the truck accelerating outside and yelling so he went outside to find the son running from house to house out of fear his father would run him over, according to the report.

Joseph Riley, 45, was arrested and charged with resisting officers and aggravated assault.

Riley’s son told deputies he was in his room and after the fifth time Riley told him to take a bath, he became angry, cursing and said he would spank him with a belt. He said Riley had been drinking all day. When the son went outside, Riley got in his truck and chased after him and he thought he would run him over.

Deputies interviewed Riley on the scene and said he appeared intoxicated and couldn’t stand on his own. Deputies say he became aggressive and lunged at them.

Riley is in jail with no bond.
