TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Did you know people from Florida have an accent?
Well, according to a new survey, it’s a “baffling mix of Midwest and Northeast with a hint of Southern,” and hardly anyone finds it sexy.
The Floridian accent ranked 44th out of the 50 sexiest accents in the USA, beating Southern Ohioan, California Valley, Alaskan, Minnesotan, New Jersey and Long Islander, which came in last place, according to the survey run by travel company Big 7.
“A sandwich is a ‘sangwich’ and the people have spoken – it’s nowhere near the top 10,” the survey said of the Floridian elocution.
Texans held on to the top spot, while Boston and New York came in second and third respectively.
“Who can resist a slow, Texan drawl? Not us, and not our community, clearly. The typical Texan accent is a “Southern accent with a twist”, with strong ‘r’s and plenty of ‘Howdy’s’. America’s sexiest accent? We’d have to agree.”
The Southern, Northeastern, Midwestern, California and Hawaiin accents were also in the top 10.
The company surveyed a sample of their 1.5 million followers on social media to come up with the findings.
